How to set up Meta Ads Manager the Right Way

Before you run an ad, set the foundation correctly.


Running ads without the proper setup is the fastest way to waste money.

This step-by-step will walk you through setting up your Meta Ads Manager correctly so your ads can run smoothly when you’re ready.


No overwhelm.No guessing. Just the foundation every business needs.


By the end of this walkthrough, you’ll have:

  • A properly structured Meta Business account

  • Your ad account created

  • Instagram + Facebook connected

  • Pixel installed on your website

  • Tracking ready for future ads


Once this is done, you’re ready for strategy.


Step 1: Create Your Meta Business Account


Click Create Account

Use your business email (not personal if possible).

Enter:

  • Business name

  • Your name

  • Business email

Click Create.


Step 2: Add Your Facebook Page + Instagram


Inside Business Settings:

Go to Accounts → Pages, Click Add → Add your page.

Then go to Instagram Accounts, Click Add → connect your IG login.

This ensures ads can run across both platforms.

Common mistake: Trying to run ads without connecting accounts first.


Step 3: Create Your Ad Account


Inside Business Settings:

Go to Ad Accounts → Add → Create New

Choose:

  • Time zone

  • Currency

  • Business use

Assign yourself full access.

You now have an ad account ready to use.


Step 4: Add a Payment Method


Go to Payment Settings

Add:

  • Card

  • Bank

  • PayPal

Without this, ads won’t run.

You don’t need to spend yet - just add the method.


Step 5: Install the Meta Pixel on Your Website


This is what tracks results.

Go to: Events Manager → Connect Data → Web

Choose: Meta Pixel, Enter website URLFollow prompts.

If using Wix/Squarespace/Shopify: You’ll paste the pixel ID into site settings.

Step 6: Test That It’s Working


Inside Events Manager: Check if your pixel is active.

Visit your website in another tab. If the pixel fires → you’re set.

This means future ads can track results.


Your account is now set up correctly.
